GREENTECH Festival in Los Angeles: Olympic idea for an ambitious mobility revolution?

As a regular participant in the Greentech Festival, our long-standing client, CharIN e.V., was represented for the first time at the Greentech Festival in Los Angeles. This metropolis will be the center of global attention in the coming years with major sports events such as the FIFA World Cup (2026), the Superbowl (2027) and the Summer Olympics (2028).

Los Angeles wants to be car-free by the 2028 Olympics - until now, cars have been as much a part of the cityscape as the film industry is to Hollywood. The metropolis already develops sustainable urban and mobility concepts to show its best side in the sporting spotlight. The two-day festival highlighted the critical questions of how Los Angeles can achieve its ambitious goal and ensure a long-term improvement in the quality of life for the population - even after the Olympic torch has gone out.

Business as Usual is Dead

Los Angeles is facing a challenging undertaking, not just because of the tight schedule. Densely populated cities, growing metropolitan areas, and the dangers posed by climate change are bringing to the fore the global need to realize that "business as usual" is not an option.

At the panel "Is Sustainable Mobility the Key to Transforming Cities at Speed?", André Kaufung, Managing Director of innos and Managing Director for CharIN in Europe, emphasized the central importance of sustainable mobility:

"Sustainable mobility is not only the key, but the driver for the transformation of modern cities."

Innovations such as the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) and expanding a future-proof charging infrastructure are key to our vision to offer long-term and scalable solutions to cities worldwide. This transformation is not only relevant for Los Angeles but also for other metropolitan areas to make life in them better.

Collaboration paves the way for success.

The challenges of the mobility transition can only be overcome through close cooperation. Cities, regional authorities, and local communities must work together in a coordinated manner to create practicable and accessible concepts.

The Greentech Festival provided the perfect platform to connect experts and decision-makers, advance sustainability from a global perspective, and set new impulses. We are proud to have been part of these important discussions and would like to thank the host of the Greentech Festival and all panel participants for the inspiring exchange.

We look forward to incorporating the insights and impetus gained into our work. Together, we are driving forward the mobility transition and creating the basis for resilient and liveable cities of progress.
