Succeeding in part-time leadership: Stick with a strong team.
The journey with innos is often like a rocket launch that requires a lot of energy at the beginning before you reach the desired cruising speed. That's what makes it so exciting and all the more rewarding when you later gain the time to enjoy the journey together with the crew.
I was originally hired as a team member with the prospect of taking over responsibility for events after a year. But as is so often the case, life turns out differently than you think: after just one month, I took over as team leader. Without an existing team at my side, I was faced with the task of building it up from scratch - a challenge that I took on with enthusiasm and determination. Our CEO, André Kaufung, was initially skeptical about whether I could fill this role part-time, but I was determined to convince him of my abilities.
Another milestone soon followed: I became part of the Leadership Board after another month. This was a significant step in my persuasion work and a vital sign of confidence in my abilities. In this role, I work closely with the management to shape the corporate culture and drive sustainable development. This additional responsibility has given me the unique opportunity to actively participate in strategic decisions and help shape the future of innos.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
A resilient, well-coordinated team is at the heart of successful management. Within two and a half years, the event division grew to five innosians, with careful planning to ensure that all members harmonize professionally and personally.
By dividing up the technical lead tasks, I devoted myself even more to my role as a manager after a year. Clear priorities, effective time management, and structured delegation of tasks were the key to successfully mastering this challenge. Ultimately, however, the team's trust was the decisive success factor.
Motivated by their positive feedback, the common goals, our teamwork, and our continuous efforts to improve our processes, I was able to fulfill the role even on a part-time basis.
I am proud to lead the way as a role model for part-time leadership at innos and my team is with me. An excellent work-life balance plays a significant role for all of us and I enjoy being able to live out this freedom at innos. My team, in turn, is given the freedom to make decisions independently without my presence and appreciates our mutual relationship of trust - as well as the inspiration on how to create a balance between work and private life.
Effective leadership is not dependent on working hours.
Flexibility and adaptability are essential to succeed in leadership positions. Being Head of Events requires a high level of responsibility, but at the same time opens the doors to great creative opportunities. As an active member of the Leadership Board, I find this culture essential, and I am proud of what I have experienced and achieved in such a short time.
My experience clearly shows that effective leadership is not dependent on working hours. Confidence in your abilities and the support of a strong team are important for finding the right course and staying on it successfully.
