First Digital Production Networks meeting at the "Surface Network NRW" industry day
On October 30, 2024, more than 60 German and Dutch experts met in Emsdetten (NRW) to present and discuss innovation and technologies in the circular economy and advanced materials.

The main focus was the upcoming EU regulations in Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). These regulations are intended to create binding standards for sustainable product design across Europe but pose logistical challenges for small and medium-sized companies.
The contribution from the Digital Production Networks presented innovative approaches on how companies can meet the future requirements of the ESPR through software and new product developments. In particular, products should have a better durability, be more recyclable, and contain a higher proportion of recycled materials.
German-Dutch cooperation at eye level
Despite all the progress made in digitalization, personal exchange remains crucial for successful network activities, especially across national borders. The network meeting in Emsdetten enabled the participants to share their visions, goals, and expertise in a trusting environment, thus promoting new collaborations. This form of exchange forms the foundation for a balanced network identity and long-term cooperation.
With this in mind, we thank all participating companies, organizations, and research institutions for their commitment and presentations at the first DPN network meeting.
