The gift of a smile: innos takes part in wishing tree campaign 2024
The Christmas season is a time of giving and caring – when we think of those who need our support the most. According to the Federal Statistical Office, over two million children in Germany are at risk of poverty, and in large cities such as Berlin, around one in three children live on basic income support.
Thus, innos supports the Schenk doch mal ein Lächeln e.V. 2024 wish tree campaign. The aim is to give children and young people living in difficult circumstances a happy and peaceful Christmas.
Since 2014, the Berlin-based association has collected over 7,000 wishes from facilities such as daycare centers, youth centers, and shelters. In order for every single wish to be fulfilled, commitment is needed - from private individuals, companies and other wish granters.
The employees of innos would like to play their part by collecting gifts for children from a refugee shelter in Berlin-Tempelhof. The children, aged between 9 and 17, have had to leave their homes behind and are now seeking protection in Germany. We want to give them a smile with small gestures - even if, considering their circumstances, their personal wishes are more significant than the space on the wishing stars allows.
How you can help
Wishing stars can be picked in some Berlin town halls until December 19. (exact dates vary). On December 16, volunteers are also needed to wrap the presents.
Many towns and districts across Germany are also setting up wishing trees. In addition, donations and helping hands are a welcome support to fill the Christmas season with contemplation for everyone in our society.
