Research & Administration Assistant (m/f/gn)

for Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN) North America

In this exciting position you’ll have a first-hand view of the rapidly evolving electric vehicle landscape. You’ll work closely with automotive and charging infrastructure manufacturers, electric utilities, regulators and policymakers, and other industry players, helping to define the future of the EV charging experience for millions of people. The Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN) is a non-profit, globally-recognized leader in supporting the development and improvement of global universal charging standards that will enable an interoperable infrastructure. innos Inc. is also a part of this.

In this role you will report to the Executive Director for CharIN North America and work closely with nearly 50 different member organizations based in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, including Tesla, Rivian, ABB, BYD, ChargePoint, Caterpillar, Fiat Chrysler, GM, Lucid Motors, Proterra, and more. You’ll also coordinate with colleagues in Europe where CharIN is headquartered.

This role will be approximately 75% administrative and 25% research and writing focused with the opportunity for the role to evolve as the organization grows and expands across North America. The candidate must be based in the U.S. and have existing work authorization. Candidates can work remotely in the U.S. if they can verify they have a suitable remote work arrangement, including access to high-speed internet and phone. An office space in Washington DC can also be provided. Travel will be required for the position so proximity to a major airport is also a plus.


Your profile:

The ideal candidate must have at least one year of full-time professional experience in an administrative and/or research focused role. The candidate must be exceptionally well organized, flexible, detail oriented, and self-motivated. We want a candidate who is curious about the topic and willing to dive into the issues to help generate thought leadership materials on charging infrastructure.

The candidate will be working on multiple different objectives on a week-to-week basis, so prioritization skills are essential, including the ability to plan ahead and to meet tight deadlines. For example, in a day you might be booking travel, developing a board agenda, preparing meeting minutes from a member call, and responding to member questions, while also working on an article for a trade journal or preparing an informative slide deck for a major conference event.

We seek candidates with a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information, professional experience in an office environment, and demonstrated ability to organize complex tasks without errors.

Job Duties:

  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director of CharIN North America
  • Manage travel bookings & travel expenses for the Executive Director
  • Organize and maintain directors’ calendars and coordinating appointments
  • Organize and attend North America Board and member meetings and prepare meeting minutes
  • Handle and respond to incoming correspondence on behalf of the Executive Director
  • Perform research tasks and write content that will be used internally and externally
  • Prepare and develop presentations for Executive Director, board, and team
  • Develop grant proposals and support business development activities
  • Help support the logistics and speaker coordination activities for CharIN NA and affiliate events
  • Support with vendor selection and contracting process
  • Help process invoices with accounting firm and finance staff
  • Grant and contract administration and support
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • At least one year of full-time professional experience in a related field
  • College degree from a four-year university
  • Excellent writing skills and strong verbal communication skills. Fluency in English is a must. Secondary languages such as French and German are a plus
  • Positive can-do attitude - willing to follow through and do what it takes to get the job done
  • Team player working closely with local team and other regional offices
  • Ability to remain flexible, embrace change and manage uncertainty
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Exceptional ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under critical deadlines and manage workload with little direction
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and exercises good judgement
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and timely follow-through
  • Ability to interact with all levels of internal and external contacts with diplomacy andprofessionalism
  • Proven proficiency of MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Slack, CRMs (e.g., Salesforce), payroll tools (e.g., Paychex), and other common work tools is a plus

Compensation and benefits:

This is a full-time position with a compensation range of $40,000-50,000 USD depending on experience and other factors, such as location. Benefits include 25 days of paid time off, health insurance, retirement contributions, ability to work remotely, and a flexible work schedule.
